THE MATRIC HOUSING KE-A-HO
DESIGN STATEMENT
In the past 30 years, society has changed dramatically especially in areas like Kampung Kerinchi. It is becoming bigger in area, influencing and affect the living habitats. But roughly seven years ago, the area was increasingly gentrified and renamed Bangsar South by property developers, in an attempt to rub off the prestige of an unrelated suburb to the north known for its affluence and happiness. The gentrification of the area has boosted the values of some older properties as well. This leads to the inevitable result: renting. This scenario has also had a huge impact on household living and the quality of living. This has also resulted in community segregation due to classes and affect neighborhood diversity and ‘Kampung Identity’.
